Nina Hutson, long time resident of Sweet Home, Oregon, died at Bridgecreek Memory Care in Lebanon Oregon. She was 85.

Nina and her identical twin sister, Ina, were born in La Garita, Colorado to Steven Place and Katherine Kirby, where she was raised and attended school. Nina and Ina enjoyed trying to fool people with their identities. They did everything together and even married brothers from the same family. Nina graciously took care of her twin sister until her death from cancer in 1955.

September 7, 1937 she married Fay L. Hutson in Del Norte, Colorado. They moved on to Michigan, where Nina waited for Fay’s return from the War. As the wife of a World War II disabled veteran, Nina was dedicated to caring for her husband upon his discharge.

Nina and Fay moved their family in 1958 to Colorado, and returned to Michigan in 1962 to sell their home. They made the journey from Michigan to Oregon in 1963, and settled in Sweet Home, where they spent the rest of their lives. Fay and Nina were long time members of the VFW in Sweet Home and Remembered Veterans of the USS England DE635. Fay preceded her in death in 1990.

Nina spent her years as a wonderful wife, the mother of seven children, 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. She never worked outside of her home, finding joy in caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, and flower gardening. Nina enjoyed traveling with her husband, Fay. On any given day, you could find Nina rearranging her furniture. Nina will be remembered as a caring and loving person. She gave to many and she accepted nothing in return for her kindness.

Nina leaves behind daughters, Florence Cotterell (and Donnie) of The Dalles and Ina Davis (and Eldon); and sons, Duane Hutson (and Dottie) of Rexburg, Idaho, and Leroy Hutson (and Tony), Kevin Hutson, and Dell Hutson—all of Sweet Home. Nina also leaves behind her sister, Pauline Lawrence of Muskegon, Michigan.

Husband, Fay L. Hutson, twin sister, Ina Hutson, and infant daughter, Rosalee Hutson, who died shortly after birth in 1938, precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bill Place and Steve Place Jr.; sister, Letha Snow; and grandson, Michael Perry.
