Viewing will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, April 18th, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19th, at 18th and Long Church of Christ. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
Mary Louise Hufford-Hollingsworth, age 82, of Sweet Home passed away Tuesday at her home. She was born in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Leonard E. and Lucille A. (Calvert) Thornbrugh.
In 1939, she moved with her parents and siblings, Pauline, Ele, and Nina, to Sweet Home. Mary graduated from Sweet Home Union High School. On June 19, 1945, she married Frank C. Hufford. Frank died June 20, 1998. Mary married Neal Hollingsworth in 1999.
Mary was involved in the Riverside Christian Church in many ways. She bought “Upper Room” daily devotionals for the church and supplied “Pockets” magazines for the Youth group. For the missions, she made ink pens with flowers attached on the top and sold them to raise money.
Mary enjoyed knitting with a knitting machine, she crocheted many things including baby blankets, sun-catchers, and swans. She made sugar-free and regular pies for everyone. “Mom’s pies fix everything.” Mary played Bingo on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Vets Club. On Thursdays, she played cards with her friends. She was a Lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW and the American Legion.
She and Neal attended dances two or three times per week. They also traveled the United States and Canada.
She is survived by her husband, Neal Hollingsworth; children, Steve and wife, Patsy, Hufford of Lake Dallas, Texas, Kay and husband, Joe, Clark of Sweet Home, Mike Hufford of Sweet Home, and Carol and husband, Del, Hollingsworth of Lebanon; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sister, Nina, and husband, Mel, Gosser; and brother, Ele, and wife, Lucille, Thornbrugh, both of Eugene.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank C. Hufford, her parents, and sister, Pauline Morgan.
