Linda Kay Southerland, 67, of Fairview, North Dakota and formerly of Sweet Home passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Louis and Mildred (Patterson) Southerland.

She and her family moved from Arkansas to California when she was a child. She lived in Oregon from 1993 to 2014, and recently moved to North Dakota.

Linda worked as a waitress until her later years, when she moved to running the register.

She is survived by: her daughter, Peggy Kennedy, of Sweet Home; son Sam Piazza of the Bay Area; brother Louis Wayne Southerland, also of the Bay Area; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great grandchild expected soon.

Linda was preceded in death by: her husband, Allen Smith, in 2004; daughter Nancy O’Bryan in 2007; and grandson Jeremy Kennedy in 2002.

A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Gilliland Cemetery.
