A public viewing will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Burial service will follow at Gilliland Cemetery.
Lenora Jean Slater, 72, of Sweet Home passed away Friday at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Salem, Oregon, the daughter of Loren C. and Nora M. (Hogan) Ames.
Lenora married Wayne H. Slater on October 5, 1956 in Albany, Oregon. They lived in Sweet Home until 1968 when they moved to South Bend, Washington. There, they owned Slater Logging with Wayne’s brother, Caryl. They returned to the Sweet Home in 1974.
Lenora was a full-time mother and wife, with the exception of the few years she worked at White’s Electronics. She enjoyed playing Keno and home decoration. Lenora loved spending time with family and friends.
Lenora is survived by: her daughters, Ileta LeBlanc and Terie Slater-McKay; sister, Phyllis Ames; niece, Tina Lester; grandsons, Tyler Lee Nicholson and Mitchell Wayne Nicholson; great-granddaughter, Maleah Marie Nicholson. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2008.
