Viewing will be 12 Noon Monday, October 28, 2013, at the Sweet Home Seventh Day Adventist Church, 300 Holley Rd/Hwy 228. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Graveside services immediately following services at Gilliland Cemetery, Sweet Home, Oregon.

Laban Harold Ford, 91, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed peacefully Saturda in Albany. He was born in Stilwell, Adair, Oklahoma to Laban and Florence Aslee (Guthrie) Ford.

Laban retired from law enforcement.

He was proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage. His great grandma was part of the Adair family and descended from the Deer Clan. During WWII, Laban served in the Navy. Shortly thereafter, he married Rena Gorter and they had three boys. In June 1980, he married Melva Nina Moden.

He served as Deacon of the Central Point Seventh Day Adventist.

He is survived by: his brothers: Calvin Haskell (Charlotte) Ford, Jesse Clarence (Elsie) and sister: Wilma Waleah Jackson; sons: Harold ”LeRoy “ Ford, of Oregon; and Randy (Peggy) Ford, of Wichita, KS; grandchildren: Tamra, Dustin, Damon, Jennifer (Mike), Christy and 6 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Melva Ford; son, John Ford; parents Laban & Florence Ford; sisters: Ruth May Steinseik, Dorthula Maude Jones, Melba Margaret Ford, Florence Pauline Boquist, brothers: Loran Ralph Ford, Austin Lee Ford, William Talmadge Ford.
