Kirk Gordon Smith, 57, of Sweet Home passed away Tuesday. He was born in Lebanon, Oregon to Kirkley Blair and Beulah Colleen (Comer) Smith.

Kirk lived in Sweet Home most of his life. He attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon to study Journalism and Communications. While there he wrestled on the school team.

Kirk was manager of B.P.O.E. in Sweet Home in the late 1980s to early 1990s. He enjoyed worshipping at the Riverside Christian Church.

Kirk enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, and he loved cooking. He also loved his six time World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, the New York Yankees and Oregon athletics. Kirk had a great sense of humor. He was thrilled and proud of his new, baby granddaughter.

Kirk is survived by: his son, James William Smith, of Sweet Home; daughters, Nyree and husband Chris Kowalski of Mary Esther, Florida and Christine Marie Tiffany Smith of Emmett, Idaho; granddaughter, Amaya Marie Rae Pollick of Emmett, Idaho; three grandsons, Ruben Boria and Zachary and Colin Ainsworth; father, Kirkley Blair and wife Donna Smith of Sweet Home; brothers, Dennis Smith of Carson City, Nevada, Harland and wife Shirley Smith of Sweet Home, Tom Smith of Seattle, Washington, and Kelly Smith of Sweet Home; sisters, Dixie and husband Charlie Clark of Sweet Home, and Patti and husband Ray Eder of Mt. Angel; and 19 nieces and nephews. Extended families include: David and Patti Ispas of Corvallis; Joel and Debra Maloney of Sweet Home; Kenny and Lucy Mowder of New Plymouth, Idaho; and Michael and Brenda Mowder of Sweet Home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah “Ditti” Colleen Smith in 2001.
