A memorial will be held on Sunday, March 6, in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Sweet Home (Holly Rd) at 3:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the Cancer Society, or a charity of donor’s choice.

Karl F. Giegl, 85, of Sweet Home passed away Saturday. He was born in Liesing, Vienna; the oldest of four and the second to last surviving child of Katharina (Polleros) and Karl Giegl.

In addition to working as a tool and die maker in Austria, Germany, Canada, and California, Karl worked for Whites Electronics in Sweet Home, Oregon for 17 years and loved inventing and working on the Telsla Rotary Steam Engine in his spare time. He was always helpful and very giving of his time.

He was a collector of many things and a Jack of all trades. He was a volunteer teacher at the local high school and took great pride in a letter of appreciation he received from President Bush.

He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and served as a Deacon for many years.

Karl is survived by: his brother, Friederich Giegl of Breitenfurt, near Vienna; daughters, Annelie Hugli and Christine Valentini of Ontario, Canada and Kymberly Giegl of Sweet Home and all their families; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, June Giegl; younger brother, Franz Giegl of Vienna; and sister, Emilie Schoenleitner of Salzburg.

The family wishes to thank: the Seventh-Day Adventist Church members; Hospice Care; Twin Oaks Staff; Sweet Home. Funeral Chapel; and all friends for their kindness and support.
