John Herbert McIlmoil, 89, of Brownsville passed away Friday. He was born in Santa Ana, California to John Noel and Louise (Robertson) McIlmoil.
He was married to Jewell B. Dalton for 68 years. They were long-time residents of Camarillo, California. They moved to Brownsville in 2008. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Oakland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
John served for over 22 years in the United States Navy as a pilot and became a Lieutenant Commander. He love to fly and was qualified to fly everything in the Navy’s inventory from the 1940s until he retired in 1964. He served in both World War II and in the Korean War.
He loved to be with his horse and go hunting.
John is survived by: his wife, Jewell; son, John W. McIlmoil of Albany; daughters, Cindy Brough of Thousand Oaks, California, Diana Short of Thousand Oaks, California, and Carol Hardy of Brownsville; as well as 15 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, at the LDS Chapel in Brownsville.
