James Roger Rice
January 2, 1929 – May 19, 2023

James Roger Rice, 94, of Sweet Home passed away Friday May 19, 2023. He was born January 2, 1929 in Holley to James Elbert and Berneta Velma (Banta) Rice.

James enjoyed fishing, hunting and later spending time at the Sweet Home Senior Center.

James married Joyce Mae Dahlenberg on February 19, 1949, she passed April 27, 1986. Together they had three children: daughter, Connie Irene Atkinson of Toledo, son, Steven Roger Rice of Albany, and daughter, Cindy Marie Lill of Lebanon.
 
James later married Anna Elizabeth Stockemer on December 31, 1991, she passed December 15, 2018.  Anna’s children survive James, Sons: Daniel Carper of Sweet Home, Michael Carper of Ft. Benton, Montana and Randy Carper of Sweet Home. He is also survived by Brother, Donald Elbert Rice of Springfield and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 
Preceded in death by: Father, James Elbert Rice, October 3, 1993; Mother, Berneta Velma Rice, April 17, 1939; StepMother, Alice Hunter Rice, August 8, 2005 and Twin Brothers, Charles Willard Rice, May 28, 1997 and Roy Winferd Rice, February 28, 1992.
