Services for James Hicks will be at 2:00 pm Monday, April 5, 2010 at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Vault internment will follow at Gilliland Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to the memorial service, from 10:00 am to noon, on Monday at the church.

James Hicks, 77, of Sweet Home, formerly of Walnut Grove, Missouri passed away in a Corvallis medical center. He was born September 30, 1932 in Nowater, Oklahoma, the son of Robert R. and Ruth E. Gratton Hicks.

He joined the US Navy and served our nation during the Korean War. After his discharge, Jimmy married Ella R. Lee August 24, 1957 in San Jose, CA. He worked as a carpenter, building and selling homes for over 50 years.

He enjoyed singing, westerns, and TV game shows.

In addition to his wife, Ella, of Sweet Home, he is survived by: sons, Daniel L. Hicks of Sweet Home, David I. Hicks and Jerry D. Hicks of Walnut Grove, MO, Allen W. Hicks of Gilroy, CA and James Lee Hicks, Jr., of California; daughters, Mary S. Hicks of Bolivar, MO and Dorothy L. Lapham of Melbourne, Australia; brothers, Robert I. Hicks of Stockton, MO, Edward Hicks of Web City, MO, Lewis D. Hicks of Birkenfeld, OR, Richard Hicks of Salem, OR and Roger Ramson Hicks of Sweet Home; sisters, Charlotte Hunter of Sweet Home, Deloris Clinton of Salem, OR, Doris Zumwalt of Foster, OR, and Joyce Hope Hicks and E. Ruth Pietree of Red Bluff, CA; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
