Helen Dorene Grant, 92, of Forest Grove, Oregon passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 at The Gardens At The Grove Assisted Living Facility. She was born in Roseau, Minnesota to Charles and Inga (Norquist) Erlandson.

Helen married Thomas A. Grant in Roseau November 9, 1938. In 1948, they moved their family out west to Oregon, settling in Holley in 1950.

Helen started attending the Sweet Home Mennonite Church when she moved into Sweet Home. In 2004, she moved to Hillsboro to live with her daughter, Gayle. In 2009, she moved into The Gardens At The Grove Assisted Living Facility in Forest Grove.

Her hobbies included sewing, crossword puzzles, reading books, studying her Bible, and volunteering in the Awana’s program at church. She enjoyed music, spending time with her family and friends from her women’s Bible study, and sharing God’s love with others.

Helen is survived by: her sons, ‘Smokey‘ Tommy Grant Jr. and wife Diane, Wayne Grant and wife Karen; daughter, Gayle Grant-Childress; former daughter-in-law, Maryanne Grant; brother, Ralph Erlandson; grandchildren, LoriAnne and Bernard Gutierrez, Charlene Grant and Ben Tofu, Robert, Richard and Ronald Grant, Darci and Daren Reed, Danny and Jen Grant, Willie and Janell Tenbusch, Tracy and Mike Butzer, Rebecca and Zane Healy, and Steven Childress; great grandchildren, Kent, Tiffany, Tania, Thomas, Troy, Kristopher, Darian, Roger, Sharron, Janice, Machlin, Rachel, Victor, Emma, Andrew, Jake, Brad, Robbie, Hunter, Nickole, Jeffrey, Danny, and Paul; cousin, Roger Norquist; and all her beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Thomas A. Grant; son, Loren G. Grant; son-in-law, Roger Childress; and great granddaughters, Cathleen Childress and Kimmie James.

A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2013 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
