Dixylee Darleen Horner, 89, was born to Earl and Fonnie Hopkins in Anaheim, CA on Jan 25, 1935.

She was raised there, graduated from High School and later attended Idyllwild Arts Academy where she developed her singing voice. She married her high school sweetheart Bruce Horner in August of 1953. They had performed together in Broadway play performances during High School. Bruce was drafted into the army and they served in Germany in the fifties where their son Mark was born. Upon return to the USA they settled in Southern California where their second son Paul was born.

Dixylee later taught Special Ed students and began her years of service to others. In the early eighties, they moved to Sweet Home Oregon to be near family. Living out her deep faith, she became active in the Sweet Home Evangelical Church. She especially enjoyed working in her yard and hosting her dear friends from church and family for fun and fellowship. She was the ultimate hostess. Dixylee and Bruce traveled the US camping, always planning their next adventure as they went.

Dixylee passed into the Lord’s presence on Sunday, April 7, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and husband Bruce (2000) as well as son Mark (1992). She is survived by son Paul Horner of New Mexico and Granddaughter Cassandra of Oregon. She also leaves behind nieces and a nephew, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews all whom she loved deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sweet Home Evangelical Church. A memorial service to remember her and let us celebrate the remarkable life of a woman whose strength, determination and wonderful sarcastic wit encouraged so many was held at the Sweet Home Evangelical Church on Wednesday, April 9th 2024.
