Charles R. Southmayd, 80, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday. He was born in Myrtle Point to Charles Iron and Estella Mae (Woodruff) Southmayd.

He served in the United States Air Force. He was a Mason for 21 years.

Charles worked as an aerospace technician for Hughes Aircraft.

He loved to hunt, fish, shoot stuff, and build things.

Charles is survived by: his wife of 42 years, Dolores Maria Southmayd; children, Shawn Aaron Southmayd of Sacramento, California, Deanna Mae Hollenback of Aquilla, Texas, John Charles Southmayd of Round Rock, Texas, and William Richard Southmayd of Scappoose; grandchildren, Richard Montgomery Hollenback of Waco, Texas, Tiffany Marie Swanson of San Diego, California, and Amethyst Dawn Southmayd of Scappoose.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
