Charles Fredrick Deffenbaugh Sr., 93, of Sweet Home passed away October 3, 2023. He was born on January 11, 1930, to James and Gladys (Coonrod) Deffenbaugh in Avery, Oklahoma.
 
He served in the Army from 1951-1953 in the Korean Conflict earning a Korean service medal, United Nations service medal and a Combat infantry badge.
 
Charles moved from Oklahoma to Wiley Creek in Sweet Home when he was seven and attended Foster Elementary.
 
He loved the woods. Logging was his life, he could tell stories for hours. He traveled to Alaska to see his kids/grandkids they all loved him very much. He was everyones hero.
 
Charles liked woodworking, camping, fishing, hunting and loved being with family and friends, he had a big heart.
 
He is survived by sons: Charles Deffenbaugh Jr., of Florence, Jeff Deffenbaugh of Sweet Home; daughters: Lewanna Wilson of Sweet Home,Teresa (Jim) Lucas of Coquille; sister Sharon (Jim) Dean of Cascade Locks; brother, Leonard (Laurie) Deffenbaugh of Sweet Home; brother-in-laws: Jim (Agness) Arthur, Richard (Sharon) Arthur, David Reynolds all of Sweet Home, Howard Hill of Helix; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; daughters: Kathy Deffenbaugh, Tanya (Patrick) Roundtree; brothers: James (Dorothy )Deffenbaugh, John (Janice) Deffenbaugh; sisters: Ella (John) Hamilton, Jean (Rocky) Laney, Florence Krater, Barb Reynolds, Shirley Hill; grandson, Ollie Roundtree.
