Caryn May Schneider, 37, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Saturday, May 2, at her home. She was born January 3, 1978 in Springfield; the daughter of Gary and Frances (McDonald) Schneider.
Caryn and her family came to Sweet Home when she was three. At five years old, she was diagnosed with Fredreich Ataxia, a debilitating, life-shortening, degenerative, neuro-muscular disorder. She attended Oak Heights Elementary School, and graduated in 1996 from Sweet Home High School. She was a writer of short stories and poems, and a veracious reader. She volunteered as a helper at the Sweet Home Library, listening and reading to children. She enjoyed doing needlework and beadwork.
Caryn had a sweet, infectious spirit that allowed her to make many friends. She’ll be missed by the friends she made at MDA Camp and on MDA social networks, as well as many people in our community.
Caryn is survived by her mom, Frances Schneider, of Sweet Home; brother, Robert Schneider, and wife Tamisha; grandmother, Julia Schneider, of Hermiston; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Hermiston and many more people that were important to her. She was preceded in death by her dad, Gary Schneider; sister, Nicole Schneider, and grandfather, Raymond Schneider.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 8, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Caryn’s cremains will be interred in Hermiston at a later date.
