A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m., to noon, Tuesday, September 2, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, at Gilliland Cemetery.
Betty Mink, age 74, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008. She was born in Minko, Oklahoma to Earl and Mabel (Odam) Cheek. She and her family moved to La Pine by train in 1938, where they lived in a tent at first.
Betty later met Dean while living with family in Sweet Home. They married in Corvallis and lived the first months of their marriage in Philomath. They later settled in Sweet Home and raised their children there.
Betty loved to sew. She was an excellent seamstress, a great cook, and alway took care of her family. In her early years, she enjoyed traveling, hunting, and fishing. She loved her grandchildren and helped in raising them.
Betty is survived by her husband, Dean Mink; children, Gerald and wife, Sue, Mink, Danny Mink, and Linda Ferebee; sisters, Freida and husband, Ken, Noah of Sweet Home, Birdie Chapman of Cascadia, Jody Ramey of Sweet Home, and Bobbie Pierce of Sweet Home; brother, Richard Cheek of Holley; and grandchildren, Dustin and Ryan Ferebee, Chris and Tyler Mink, Lacey Graham, and Anthony Mink.
She was preceded in death by brother, Don Cheek.
