Anita Margarete Launder, 97, of Sweet Home passed away peacefully at home May 14, 2022.
She was born April 2, 1925 to Kurt and Martha (Schotte) Streppel in Naumburg, Germany.
In 1949, Anita came from Germany to America, starting out in Southern California. She, her husband, Glenn, and their five children moved to Northern California spending several years in Los Molinos where she worked as beautician. It was in 1971 that she and her family moved to Sweet Home, OR.
Anita continued her career for many years as a beautician at Perfect Look until retirement. She was a long-time member of Sweet Home Mennonite Church as well as the Sweet Home Veteran’s Club.
She loved gardening, cooking, bread making and quilting; she made many beautiful quilts for all those she loved.
Anita will be so very missed for all her stories, her bright smile and her big, loving heart.
She is survived by three of her children: Ivan Launder (Margarita) of Cottonwood, CA., Mimi Cleland, and Ron Launder (Sandy) all of Sweet Home. She also leaves behind a lifetime of legacy for her 11 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Husband Glenn Launder (2000); sons: Bob Launder (1966), Ray Launder (2014); Son-in-law Roger Cleland (2013); Sisters: Christa Mahler, Ute Dutton; grandson L.D. Leininger II (1974).
A Celebration of Life is being planned in her honor will be announced at a later time.
