Alvin Lee Johnson, age 73, of Sweet Home died Thursday, November 6, 2008. He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Gordon B. and Ivis A. (Ingerham) Johnson. He moved to Alaska as a child in 1939. He then moved to Sweet Home in 1976.
Alvin was in the Army from 1955-1959 in Anchorage, Alaska. He worked construction while living in Alaska. When he first moved to Sweet Home, he owned Al’s Keys & Lock until 1981. After that, he owned and operated the Econo Wash Laundromat.
As a young boy, Alvin built and collected trains and model airplanes. Alvin also flew airplanes as a young man. In his later years, Alvin enjoyed building and repairing electronics. Alvin loved his cats and helped a local society for the care of ferrel cats.
Alvin is survived by his brother, Keith Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Johnson; mother, Ivis Johnson; sisters, Dorothy Wheeler and Phyllis Johnson; and brother, Gary Johnson.
A funeral service will be at 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling services.
